I first heard this album over 20 years ago and have anxiously awaited it’s release on CD. As a young Tenor player when I first heard it (unfortunately on a VERY bad cassette copy) I listened to it over and over and over. Hearing it on CD all these years later, it is still one of the hardest swinging things I have EVER heard. Pete displays a thorough knowledge of the history of the Tenor while putting his own stamp on the proceedings. I have cited this as a wonderful example of a recording that should be dissected by a new Jazz musician. This should be in every Jazz program at every school in the Country. Kudos, Pete, on one of my absolute favorite performances on record. A true treasure!
